Melissa Plafcan

Mrs. Plafcan is a former elementary school teacher who has had fifteen years of classroom experience as well as three years of experience working as a dyslexia interventionist with students of many ages and grade levels. She earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Education degree from the University of Arkansas and is now in pursuit of a Master’s of Science in Education from the University of Central Arkansas as well as CALT (Certified Academic Language Therapist) certification. She has been trained in the Orton-Gillingham method of reading instruction, the Barton Reading and Spelling System, and is now being trained in the Take Flight program for dyslexia. Since dealing with dyslexia and other language processing issues in two of her three children, she has become dedicated to helping other students excel in school despite any learning differences they may have.
