Faith and Service

Christ is the “unseen teacher,” the focal point of all our activities at Catholic High; therefore, the school’s most important communal functions surround the celebration of the Mass.

Overview

“Be it known to all who enter here that Christ is the reason for this school.” This sign, together with the Ten Commandments, hangs in the lobby of Catholic High School for Boys. They are the expression of our basic mission, to offer a Catholic education to our students.

Students who are not Catholic are taught, without proselytizing, exactly what Catholic students are taught. Religion classes for all grades constitute the first class of the day. The emphasis continues throughout the day as classes begin with a prayer, and the chapel is open for visitation throughout the day. Mass for the entire school and the sacrament of Reconciliation are offered regularly, as is Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, with weekday masses occurring Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:20 a.m.

As the lobby sign has indicated the importance of Jesus to our school’s existence, its conclusion gives clarity to His influence: “He is the unseen but ever present teacher in its classes. He is the model for its faculty and the inspiration of its students.”
