Steve Straessle is a 1988 graduate of Catholic High School for Boys and has been a teacher there since 1992. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Arkansas in History and his Masters from St. John’s University, New York in Educational Administration. In 2005, Straessle took the helm as principal and continues to teach two classes in addition to his administrative and fundraising duties. Along with writing a bi-weekly column for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and contributing to other publications, Straessle was named DAR Social Studies Teacher of the Year in 1995, a finalist for Arkansas Business Non-Profit Business Leader of the Year in 2010, ASPA Administrator of the Year in 2016, and in 2020, a member of the inaugural class of the Arkansas Top Influencers as noted by Arkansas Money and Politics magazine.
